Last Tuesday, October 8th, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved a Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) Local Development grant application submitted by the city of Van Meter. Up to $489,282 will be made available to assist in construction of approximately 2,640 feet of new roadway located on the southeast side of town in its new business park. This project is anticipated to be completed by March 2015.  This project is necessary to provide access to 250 acres for professional office purposes.  Funding for the grant comes from the city share of the RISE Fund and not Government funds.

The Alliance staff put together and submitted this grant on behalf of Van Meter. We are excited to announce that the grant was successful and has secured almost half a million dollars for the community. Van Meter has been working diligently with the Alliance on certifying the site that this RISE grant will benefit, and the Alliance continues to represent the site aggressively to data center prospects.

The Alliance has a great history and track record in writing RISE grants for Dallas County, with every RISE grant request resulting in funding. The Alliance’s most recent project successes have been Alice’s Road, resulting in $5,292,428 for the City of Waukee, and Microsoft, resulting in $3,413,053 for the City of West Des Moines. Overall, the Alliance has brought in $25,779,241 of RISE grants to the county, impacting Perry, Adel, Dallas Center, Waukee, West Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, Granger, and Van Meter.
